EV Direct managing director Luke Todd has told Wheels that his organisation is working with the Department of Infrastructure to quickly rectify a compliance issue which has halted deliveries of the BYD Atto 3 electric SUV.
According to Wheels there is no visible top tether point for the middle back seat which goes against ADR rules for new vehicles, but the publication says it believes the top tether mounting is incorporated into the seat but is hidden behind the fabric of the backrest.
Wheels reports that brand says addressing the issue should be a simple quick fix and may involve “ a Stanley knife with a professional operator.”
Todd told the publication his company was working behind closed doors with the department on the issue and he will provide full details when he can talk freely about the matter.
