A production version of the Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain EV SUV has been spotted in China.

It may be named Mengshi 917 judging by a rear logo, CarNewsChina.com reports.

Mengshi (Warrior) is Dongfeng‘s off-road brand and China production of the new EV is expected to start this year.

Sourcing AutoHome for the story, CarNewsChina.com says the M-Terrain EV SUV is likely to sell for more than NZ$162,287 (700,000 RMB).

The EV has a 140kWh battery offering about 500km range, four electric motors with a total 745kW of power, accelerating from zero to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, the reports suggest, saying it has more than enough power for off-roading.

The SUV has a high ground clearance (air suspension can lift it to 150mm) and features driver assistance and a Level 3 autonomous driving assistance system, and a spare tyre mounted on the back door.

“Dongfeng will build the cars using M Tech smart off-road architecture and the MORA platform. It can manufacture SUVs, pickup trucks, and more,” the reports say, adding it has a 5.1m turning radius.
