Directed Technologies has appointed Stephen Owens as its new operations general manager.

The newly created position reaffirms a commitment to its connected vehicle and IoT customers and accelerating global expansion.

With increasing organisational performance metrics, from the number of connected fleets serviced to the number of related assets and users, the Australian company continues to grow rapidly, leveraging its local market position and rising global demand from fleet operators and automotive manufacturers in 26 countries

Stephen Owens

Owens joins Directed Technologies at this significant growth phase with a wealth of strategic leadership experience in the connected vehicle industry. He has most recently worked as the Chief Strategy and Operating Officer at Intelematics, an RACV Company, where he was known for driving operational excellence.

His industry advocacy is exemplified in his co-chair role at the National Transport Data Community of Practice (NTD-CoP), which was established to foster collaboration and stakeholder engagement related to the opportunities and challenges that transport data analytics offers our industry and community.

“With numerous exciting developments, customers, products and projects underway, I am thrilled with the opportunity to lead the talented Directed operations teams, driving operational excellence, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the successful delivery of our innovative solutions to customers worldwide,” Owens says.

His role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of contracted programs, such as Ambulance Victoria, Australia Post and FedEx, Mercedes-Benz, Paccar, Hino and many more. Moreover, Stephen’s leadership will foster greater collaboration, communication, efficiency, and effectiveness across multiple teams.

“We’re excited to have Stephen join the Directed Technologies team; his appointment signifies a crucial step as we continue to strengthen our operational capabilities and drive forward our growth agenda,” Directed Technologies executive director Brent Stafford says.

“Stephen will be a driving force for designing and implementing initiatives that build accountability, scalability, and robustness in the delivery side of Directed Technologies’ business.”

As the company continues to grow its Melbourne Headquarters and global footprint, Owen’s addition to the now 130-strong Directed Technologies team underscores the founder and Group CEO Steve Siolis’ commitment to the business through ongoing investment in the team and facilities worldwide.
