Tesla intends to complete its Cybertruck electric ute (pickup truck) development this year for production in 2023.
During a ceremony launching the start of Model Y deliveries at Gigafactory Berlin, Musk was reportedly asked by an employee about Tesla’s short-term goals. “We want to complete the development of Cybertruck this year and be ready for production next year,” Musk added.
Tesla first revealed the Cybertruck in 2019 but production was delayed with later reports suggesting an end of 2022 start at Gigafactory Texas.
During Tesla’s last earnings report in January, Musk said Tesla wouldn’t launch any new vehicle in 2022 but indicated the Cybertruck, more Semi trucks, and a new Roadster would come in 2023.
