Cupra announces drive-away prices for Born BEV

Cupra Australia says it’s all-new Born battery electric vehicle (BEV) will offer the longest range (up to 511km*) at the most attainable price starting from $59,990 plus on-road costs.

In states and territories such as NSW and ACT the drive-away price is within $2,500 of that sum, before region-specific incentives are applied.

Where incentives are applicable, the drive-away price could fall below the RRP says Cupra Australia.

The Cupra Born will arrive in March/April 2023 with service plans to be announced.

It is built on the Volkswagen Groups dedicated MEB platform which Cupra Australia says delivers a zero to 100km/h sprint in 7 seconds and driver engagement through the steering and rear-drive chassis.

This is supported by 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels, optional wide Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, and a high level of standard technology and luxury for the price.

“We wanted the Cupra Born to arrive with pricing that bests comparable BEVs, but most importantly is comparable to the hot hatchbacks that Australians love and really engage with,” Cupra Australia director Ben Wilks says.

“To combine a long 500km-plus EV range with instant electric performance, and controllable dynamics through the sharp steering and rear-wheel drive chassis, places the Born in an exclusive part of the market.

“From range and pricing, to space and driver satisfaction, the Born will be the most important vehicle that Cupra launches,” he says.

The only options for the Cupra Born are the interior package ($2,900), performance pack ($2,600) and premium metallic, Aurora blue paint ($475).
