For the first time since the company was founded in 1997, Chery has broken the million mark for cumulative vehicle sales in a half-year period.
With a total of 1.1 million vehicles, the car manufacturer recorded a 48.4% increase compared to 2023, including 532,000 units for export.
From January to June, cumulative global vehicle sales amounted to 1,100,621 vehicles, with 568,463 cars sold in China, an increase of 72.2% compared to the previous year.
In parallel, 532,158 vehicles were sold in over 80 export markets worldwide, an increase of 29.4% compared to 2023. Chery says it led the Chinese automotive industry in four categories:
- in the overall growth rate – Chery once again grew against the trend in June (+38%)
- growth in the New Energy Vehicles segment (+181.5%)
- in the SUV segment (since 2023)
- in its position as China’s leading car exporter (for 21 years in a row)
Chery says its sales performance is based equally on vehicle models with combustion engines and electrified cars, which have increased sales figures in the past six months. The diverse product strategy ensures that Chery can meet the different requirements of countries and markets.
In June, Chery achieved two significant milestones in Australia. It exceeded 10,000 sales since launching in March 2023 and achieved 1000 monthly sales for the first time in June 2024 (1,079 units – June VFACTS) following the new seven-seat TIGGO 8 Pro Max launch.
Chery will also launch its first electric vehicle in September, the OMODA E5, which promises to build on the brand’s positive sales momentum in Australia.
