BYD is building an electric ute for China that may also come here.

Spy shots have been published by CarNewsChina, which adds many Chinese vehicle manufacturers are launching and developing new utes (pick-up trucks) for the growing lifestyle market.
Like New Zealand where utes are favoured, Australia is also asking when electrified replacements for internal combustion engine (ICE) utes are expected to be available, according to The Australian.

The LDV (SAIC Motor subsidiary) eT60 is the first electric ute available in New Zealand and Australia, with more electrified utes forecast for both countries.
Ford’s F-150 Lightning electric ute isn’t available in either country yet and may not be for some time with demand for the Lightning high in its US home, the wait reportedly “years” in several cases in spite of production being ramped up.
So it’s more likely New Zealand and Australia will see more China made electrified utes first.
Stuff is also reporting that BYD is working on an electric ute.
