Australian-supplied BYD Atto 3 Standard Range and Extended Range models built from November 21 this year 2022 have received the top safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) after it gave similar ratings to New Zealand and European supplied models in October.
Publication of this rating follows changes made to Australian-sold Atto 3 models after November 21 in relation to the number, placement and use of child restraint anchorages, deliveries having already resumed after a nearly four-week delay.
Owners of Australian-supplied Atto 3 vehicles built prior to November 21, 2022, are advised to have the brand-initiated updates to the centre rear and front passenger seats completed by BYD as soon as possible so that their vehicle is eligible for the five-star ANCAP safety rating. Vehicles that have not had these updates applied remain unrated by ANCAP.
“The extension of the five-star ANCAP safety rating to newly-built and updated vehicles supplied in Australia will be welcome news to new and existing Atto 3 owners,” says ANCAP chief executive Carla Hoorweg.
“This rating provides positive guidance to potential fleet buyers looking to increase the range of five-star electric vehicles on their purchasing lists,” she adds.
The BYD Atto 3 got scores of 91% for adult occupant protection, 81% for child occupant protection, 80% for safety assist and 69% for vulnerable road user protection.
