BMW Group Australia chief executive Wolfgang Buechel paid tribute to the groups 46-strong retail network at the annual dealer of the year awards function, acknowledging their integral function in the automotive industry.

Held at the InterContinental Sorrento in Victoria, multiple dealers at the event were recognised for their triumphs in various categories related to BMW and MINI businesses.

Buechel says the dealers had again performed admirably in achieving notable results throughout the 2022 year.

“Our valued dealer partners performed at a very impressive level in 2022, demonstrating continued commitment to our brands and achieving success in numerous areas of business while providing convenient services and memorable brand experiences for our customers.”

“Our dealers continue to be the backbone of our retail operations and are integral to our valued customers and the overall automotive industry. We appreciate their continued commitment in the areas of digital transformation, sustainability, and customer excellence, which supports our RetailNext strategy to provide a completely new brand experience for our customers,” Buechel says.

Four BMW dealers and four MINI dealers received awards for achieving the highest scores in demonstrating excellence across numerous areas of the respective businesses. These awards reflect the dealers’ strong performance in customer service, sales, marketing, and overall business operations.

Three new individual awards were introduced this year that put the spotlight on accomplishments in digital transformation, sustainability, and customer excellence.

The Digital Transformation Award honoured the seamless integration of digital elements to enhance the customer experience, from effective deployment of apps to online sales platforms.

North Shore BMW was the inaugural winner of the Digital Transformation Award.

The Sustainability Award recognised efforts in recycling, reducing wastage and working towards a net zero future while also engaging with the community and developing transparent business practices.

The local award evokes the BMW Group’s all-encompassing commitment to sustainability, with the company working towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 with a strategic plan to reduce its C02 emissions across all business operations, from production to the supply chain.

Shepparton BMW was the inaugural winner of the Sustainability Award.

The Customer Excellence Award was for going above and beyond to deliver exceptional, multi-faceted customer experiences. Brighton BMW was the inaugural winner of this award.

BMW Sydney won the Major Metro BMW Dealer of the Year award for 2022, while Waverley BMW was the runner up in this category.

Hornsby BMW won the Metro BMW Dealer of the Year award for 2022 while Col Crawford BMW was the runner up in this category.
