Ram Trucks Australia is launching the Big Horn nameplate in Australia as the new entry-level variant in the DT-series Ram 1500 range.
The brand remains dominant in the marketplace up 51.2% year-to-date at the end of July 2023 with 4534 units sold.
The DT series Ram 1500 Big Horn will be available from $119,950 replacing the 1500 DS series which is in run-out mode at $98,950 driveaway.
“We’ve sold nearly 25,000 RAMs since 2015 – across metropolitan, regional and rural areas – with many of them being used as fit-for-purpose vehicles for towing farm machinery, horse floats, caravans, boats and more,” RAM Trucks Australia national manager Jeff Barber says.
“The Ram 1500 Big Horn, with its 4.5-tonnes max braked towing, 5.7-litre V8 Hemi and optional longer tub allows us to broaden our product offering. It’s a workhorse for the job site during the week or dirt-biking on the weekend thanks to its ability to transport two bikes or a 6ft ladder without dropping the tailgate.”
The Ram 1500 Big Horn delivers 291kW and 556Nm through an 8-speed gearbox. This powertrain features eTorque technology creating a mild hybrid system which assists the fuel-saving cylinder deactivation and delivers a Stop/Start function. The combined fuel consumption is 12.2L/100km.
The Big Horn offers a choice of either 5’7” or longer wheelbase 6’4” tub complete with bedliner, multiple tie-down points, bed step, 18” alloys and a useful payload of 900kg.
It offers cloth seats, 60/40 stadium folding rear bench, trailer sway control function and hill-start assist and a full suite of airbags.
The Big Horn 5’7” tub variants starts from $119,950 plus on roads costs, while the 6’4” variant is $120,950 – both are available to order now.
