Google Maps integration will be introduced for Beam operations across 11 cities in Australia and four New Zealand cities.
That will bring further connectivity to those who live and work there, says Beam.
Users will be able to view available Beam e-scooters and e-bikes within their map, while Google Maps will display Beam vehicle information including the vehicle location, the rider’s distance from that vehicle, the estimated time of arrival at the destination, estimated price, and the vehicle’s battery life.
When a vehicle is selected, the user will be directed to the Beam app to start a trip.
The integration will be available in Australian cities including Brisbane, Townsville, Port Douglas, Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Esperance, Bunbury, Hobart and Launceston.
In New Zealand, it will be visible to residents and visitors in Auckland, Wellington, Whangarei and Palmerston North.
“Beam is committed to exploring partnerships and integrations to better improve Australians and New Zealanders’ access to multi-modal transport,” says Beam ANZ general manager Tom Cooper.
“This integration with Google Maps will make it even easier for Beam riders to plan their journeys with us, but more importantly will allow us to bring shared micromobility to a larger audience in these cities, showcasing how Beam can easily integrate with other modes of public transport like buses and trains,” he adds.
“We were thrilled to partner with University of Queensland on their MaaS (Mobility as a Service) trial service Odin Pass, and MaaS provider Moovit in Sydney and Canberra last year, and the Google Maps integration is yet another step towards enabling shared mobility solutions for all in Australia and New Zealand.”
