Chinese automotive manufacturer GWM has celebrated record half-year sales both globally and here in Australia.

Globally, it sold 559,669 vehicles in the first six months of 2024, marking a 7.8% year-on-year increase.

More than 36% of the volume was attributed to overseas markets, reflecting a 62.6% year-on-year increase.

In June 2024, overseas sales totalled 38,104 units, setting a new monthly global record.

It says Australia continues to drive this international success, delivering a local monthly record of 4173 units and 21,548 units for the first half of 2024.

In 2023, the company exceeded 300,000 units in overseas sales, an increase of more than 80% year-on-year.

GWM launched the ‘ONE GWM’ global strategy in 2022, allowing the brand to move forward with a more cohesive and recognisable presence across multiple model lines.

“Going global remains our long-term strategy with overseas markets, which is a focal point to our continued future success,” GWM International president Park Shi says.

“For 2024, we have an achievable target of 500,000 overseas sales, 65% greater than 2023. Supporting this growth, GWM has seen an increase in our overseas dealer network, growing from 700 to over 1,000.

“The harmonisation of our brands under ‘ONE GWM’, will continue to build and allow us to be recognised globally across many different segments,” he says.

The brand now sells eight models in Australia, including the Haval SUV, Tank 4×4, Ora EV, and GWM Ute ranges.
